Gallery display problem on Chrome
-
Gallery display has stopped working on Chrome. It might be a local issue to me, but I wonder whether anybody has experienced it.
When I click on one of the photos to enlarge it, and display it on the black background, the photo is displayed, but the background is white, and the camera settings are displayed. It is a mess. All WordPress galleries are affected – not just my site – and it only happens on this PC, only on Chrome, and only on my account (not my partner’s side of the PC). It is fine on my Mac and on my phone. I’ve rebooted and re-installed Chrome, but nothing helps. Any ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am also getting this problem.
I am using the Twenty Fourteen theme .. gallery settings – thumbnails on a thumbnail grid.
It happens on Chrome and Internet Explorer. I have not tried any other browser.
I have changed them to slideshows for the moment until the problem is (hopefully) resolved.
Thanks.

It is interesting that you also have this problem, Brian.
Following on from yesterday’s post where I thought the problem was limited to Chrome, and only on my PC, I have now found that it also affects Chrome on my Mac, and that Firefox is also affected.
It affects all WordPress galleries, including the gallery on WordPress’s own Support page used as an illustrations for ‘rectangular’ and ‘square’ galleries.
So far, the gallery display on Safari seems to be ok.
It would be helpful if a WordPress Support person can have a look at this.

None of my portfolio galleries are functioning/loading properly. Some of these galleries have been working fine for months, and now suddenly they’re loading askew, comments showing at the top, etc. If I click on a single image then they load completely screwy (image on top of another one, etc). This happens on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. I’m using iMac on OX 10.11.4

My problem appears to have “magically” gone away now!
I have tried it on Chrome and Internet Explorer.
kitaroos and miskmask – what about yours?

I’m all good in Chrome but have problems in Firefox, although only when I’m logged into WordPress.
It all seemed to clear up yesterday, but returned today. I’d keep an eye on it.

No, I’m still having problems, and it seems to be the carousel function that’s misbehaving. Same problem in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. No change if logged in or out. HELP!
If you go to https://miskmask.wordpress.com/portfolio/the-best-of-the-masses-vol-1/ and then click on one of the images, you’ll see what I mean. Oddly this portfolio worked perfectly for a weeks and weeks, and now suddenly it’s not showing the dark background (plus oodles of other issues).
-
Miskmask, I tried your carousel on Firefox and it behaved beautifully for me and has the dark background. This is certainly a strange issue…
-
Mike, I have tried it on my iMac and on my MacAir, and both produce the same problem with the carousel when I click on an image. So it’s okay for you in both Chrome and Firefox?
Do you think I should repost this issue as a new message requesting help?

I’m having problems with Firefox but only when I’m logged into WP. Chrome is all good but not my preferred browser.
This thread has been tagged for attention so it’s a case of waiting for help.
I suppose if an external viewer like myself is seeing your gallery properly, that counts for something.
Would you mind checking any of my posts from http://www.mikeosbornphoto.com? Thank you :)

It loads perfectly in Safari, but its ‘ll wonky in Firefox and Chrome. It displays the same problem that I’m seeing also in the carousel. By the way, some of those images are gorgeous.

Ah interesting. It seems to have different effects for different people. I hope the experts can determine the cause soon and restore normal functionality.
And thank you :)

Well I could see it so others will be able to. But there should be no glitches at all. Let’s wait for help and maybe in the meantime the problem will just vanish.
I have another tagged thread so will let you know if I hear something there first.

For me Mismask’s galleries do not display properly in either Chrome or Safari; Mike’s are displayed correctly on Safari (but on a white background – is that correct?), but not on Chrome. My galleries are still a mess everywhere. I hope Brian’s are still good – but it seems that doesn’t mean somebody else will see them correctly.

I have checked my galleries this morning (Tuesday) and they are still working ok.
I will keep my eye on them and report back only if the problem reappears.

I just ran a couple of tests from my work laptop and my own and miskmask’s galleries run correctly in both Chrome and Firefox.
kittaroos – I was going to look at yours too but your site is private? And yes, I run a white background to carousels.
I’m going to keep an eye on this, but hopefully it’s just a spurious problem which has gone away as quickly as it arose.

Mike: Safari and Firefox now display properly, after emptying all cache and history in Preferences, but Chrome is still not cooperating on any of my machines. Nothing I do seems to work for Chrome, but it’s good to know that it’s displaying okay for you. Thanks!

That’s something, at least. I’ll give it another go when I’m back on my home laptop.
A friend and regular to my site mentioned a problem with the carousels so external people have been seeing it. I’m not sure which browser he uses, though…
