Gallery display problem on Chrome
-
Thank you Mike. The website is still in progress – but here is a public one I’ve worked on with a few galleries that do not display properly for me.
One of the people I’ve invited to look at the in-progress website said the gallery displays properly for him. Here, whichever computer or browser I use, all WordPress carousels remain a jumble.

Hi kittaroos,
I’ve just given your gallery a quick spin on Chrome and it works perfectly. On occasions there seems to be a disconnect between what we experience on our own sites and what other people see on them. It’s a tough nut to crack.
-
Thanks Mike. It’s uncomfortable not knowing what others see. I hope it gets sorted soon.
-
Mike: I went into Preferences/Settings/Advanced and “Reset” Chrome to its default settings. It’s suddenly working again! Try that and see if it works.
-
Ah! Now I regularly reset Firefox so I’ll give that another go when I’m back this evening. I hadn’t used Chrome in a while and that worked from the outset.
This all does seem to be browser-related… they can be funny creatures.
Thank you for the tip and fingers crossed!

Having worked for two days the problem has partially returned.
It still works ok on Internet Explorer and on Chrome Version 49.0.2623.110 m running Windows 8.1. However, the problem appears on the same version of Chrome if you are running Windows 7.1. I have access to two PCs that are running 7.1.
The left and right navigation icons do not display when in large image mode. In their place are bits of other images. However, if you click on them they do function correctly!
In addition, as happened before, the previous page (with the thumbnail image) is not greyed out, as it is when the function is working correctly.

Hi folks, we’re hoping to resolve this and need a bit more information from you. Can you:
– Send a link to the page where you see the problem, or if it’s on your front page, let us know which galleries give you trouble
– Get a screenshot and upload it to your media library, or to a service like Cloudup.com
– Let us know what browser you are using?
I was able to duplicate @mikeosbornphoto’s issue so far, so thanks for those details. The other issues do not quite sound the same, though, and I’m not seeing them when I test the sites I’ve seen linked here. So if you can send more information, that will help a bunch. Thanks!

@mikeosbornphoto, your site had a problem where the gallery was automatically closing in Firefox. We were able to duplicate that here (thanks to your detailed information in another thread) and solve it. Does this resolve everything for you or are you still having trouble? If you are, could you send a screenshot?
And to anyone else, if you can help us figure out how to reproduce this issue you’re seeing, we can fix it, too. Please send the details I mentioned earlier:
– a link to the page where you see the problem
– info on which gallery to click if it happens on some but not others
– your browser information
Thanks!

supernovia,
link to one of my pages that are affected ..
http://sunningdale-pc.org.uk/sunningdale-in-bloom/
Click on one of the thumbnail images to see the problem.
Also, click on one of the thumbnail images in the left-hand sidebar where it also occurs.
I have uploaded a screenshot to my media library .. SunningdaleInBloomCaptureofDisplayProblem.jpg.
Chrome Version 49.0.2623.110 m
A brief summary from my perspective ..
I discovered the problem on 27th March. It appeared on both Chrome and Internet Explorer.
24 hours later (28th March) the problem had gone away.
The problem partially returns on the 30th March. It now appears only when using Chrome on Windows 7.1. It works ok with Chrome on Windows 8.1. It also works fine on Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The problem has returned again in Safari 9.1. I’m using OS 10.11.4. Issue can also occur in Chrome and Firefox, but it seems okay at the moment.
1. I’ve uploaded an screenshot at Screenshot or at https://miskmask.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/screen-shot-2016-03-31-at-11-28-58.jpg
2. Blog image gallery is at image gallery and carousel or at https://miskmask.wordpress.com/portfolio/the-best-of-the-masses-vol-1/
3. If you click on one of the images within the carousel (i.e.., No. 15), the dark background is missing, text rendering in odd positions and not clickable.
4. When this happened a few days ago, I was able to clear the problem by emptying all history and cache. This is not a solution because I’m losing everything in the browser.

Thanks everyone. We think we’ve found and fixed the culprit. Can you all refresh and see that the problem stays away for you now?
-
Thank you Supernovia – I’ve been trouble-free the whole day on all browsers. That’s great.

Hi Supernovia, apologies for the tardy response.
I’ve just checked and everything is functioning very well again (on Firefox when logged into WP in my case).
Many thanks for fixing this glitch, very grateful indeed.
With best wishes,

Hey there!
This is an issue we’re currently investigating. It seems to be affecting users of Chrome and Microsoft Edge on Windows operating systems.
We recently put out a fix that we think may have corrected this, so if you’re still having problems with this, could you let us know in this thread so we can investigate further?
