Gallery Editing Tool is not appearing

  • Unknown's avatar

Previously when editing any gallery images, an editing tool appeared in the first image in the gallery . That tool is now not appearing and I can’t identify why.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m not quite sure which tool you’re speaking about. Are you talking about the ability to go in and modify your gallery after it had already been placed in your post? If so, that button should still be there for you. Here’s what the icon looks like currently:

To get it to show up you need to edit the post in which the gallery is embedded and then click on the gallery itself. The edit and delete buttons should appear.

If these are not showing up for you or if this isn’t what you were looking for, please let me know!

Hi, I had the same probl

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been able to do this up until last week. Now I click on the edit option, and can access the relevant page with the ‘visual’ and ‘text’ tabs at the top, but the gallery doesn’t have the edit and delete buttons. It now has a small grid type box that appears above the gallery iteself, but when you hvoer over it, you only get size adjustment arrows. All of the pages on anniescollectables.com.au (or joyce592.wordpress) are reacting in the same way. Many thanks for your help with this.

I am still not quite sure what is going wrong. If you don’t mind, would you please take a screenshot of what is going wrong on your end? You can then upload your screenshot to your Media Library and I’ll be able to take a look and hopefully get to the bottom of this.

Here’s some information on how to create a screenshot in case you didn’t already know how:

Hi there, I have taken a screen dump and put it in my image library – called it “screen print”. I should mention I went to my desktop computer and it didn’t have this problem. It seems to be happening on this laptop, although I have worked on images in the past weeks without this problem on this laptop computer.

Well that is very strange! It’s as if your computer is not loading the required scripts.

Would you please do me a favour? Would you please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies? It could force the browser to re-load everything, which will hopefully clear this up. You’ll need to re-log in after you do so, but (fingers crossed) it will be worth it.

Here’s information on how to do so:

    Hi @trish,

Could you please start a new thread with your issues by going right here:

    Thanks so much!

Hi, Thank you for your patience. I have near cleared the cookies and cache, and the small grid box has disappeared, but the gallery editing tools have not reappeared on this computer. I can, however, edit the images if I go into add media/ library and bring up all the images, but not through the gallery editing tools for a gallery on an individual page. Many thanks

Hello Ash, I think I may have a possible reason for this problem. I have been having problems (as have many people it seems) uploading images, and therefore went through the solutions suggested in the threads. I realised I have been using IE9, so switched to Firefox, and also downloaded Firefox onto my other laptop. The images now upload correctly, and the image galleries are behaving as you would esxpect them to on the laptop as well. I think this solves the problem, don’t you?

So it would appear! When we were first discussing this we weren’t aware of the IE9 issue. We’re still working on it but in the mean time if you are able to upgrade your browser past IE9 that is great or if not then if you can use a different browser that works fantastic too!
