Gallery images linked to attachment page open on media file instead

  On at least one of my image galleries each of the images in the gallery opens on the corresponding media file when I open in a new window (‘Open link in a new private window’ in Firefox) though the gallery setting is ‘Link to Attachment Page.’ The gallery I refer to is in the page ‘Aida Overton Walker slide show, gallery, and links’ (https://songbook1.wordpress.com/fx/si/african-american-musical-theater-1896-1926/bert-williams-george-walker-and-aida-overton-walker/aida-overton-walker-slide-show-and-gallery/).

  I checked two other galleries with the same setting, LInk to Attachment Page, and found that the images in each case were opening properly on attachment pages. See the galleries in the following two pages:

  In Chrome 43 on all three Galleries when I right click to open the Gallery link in a new tab, it opens in the Attachment page. Just clicking it opens it in the Carousel.

  Same behavior in FF 39, whether opened in a new tab or new Private window, the Attachment page is loaded.

  The images in the first gallery (Aida) are now opening into attachment pages for me as well. Yesterday they weren’t. One possible explanation is a delay before a change of the link to destination becomes effective. Or perhaps a necessity to clear the cache after making the change.

  As a test, about ten minutes ago I changed the gallery “link to” setting to media file. Change the setting on one image and it is changed on all images in gallery. And yet ten minutes later they are still opening on attachment page, just as yesterday they were opening on the media file after I changed the “link to” setting to attachment page.

  C-when right-clicking to open in a new tab in Chrome, the Aida Walton gallery still opens in an Attachment page for me and in FF both in a new tab and in a new private window.

  That’s all the time I have to devote to this.

  I changed the setting back to attachment page more than ten hours ago. But as I noted above the change to media file had no immediate effect and no effect after ten minutes. And on the previous day the change of the “link to” setting from media file to attachment page had no immediate effect. It seems like it might be a browser issue.
