Gallery in the sidebar with free WP version?

I’m trying to find out if I can add a gallery to my sidebar (Gallery Widget) when using the free WP version? Or is it only possible with the privately hosted version?
Thx, YlvaliThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are talking about a site hosted on WordPress.com, we can use the Gallery shortcode in a text widget in our sidebar. Other options are the flickr widget or flickriver’s code in a text widget.

Thank you Jennifer,
I´ll have to try the flickr solution then. I couldn´t get it to work with the shortcode and the text widget. -
If it wasn’t clear from reading the resources I pointed to, you have to use an already published Gallery to use its shortcode in a sidebar text widget and then you use the Post or Page ID number in the shortcode.
You might also have to fiddle a little with the shortcode to make it fit the width of your sidebar, especially the number of columns, so a Gallery with one column would look like this, without the spaces around the brackets:
[ gallery ID=”239″ columns=”1″ ]
This will produce a one-column Gallery of thumbnail images from Post 239.
If there are a lot of images in Post 239, then you might want to use the “exclude” parameter and image ID# to reduce the number of images displayed. So,
[ gallery ID=”239″ columns=”1″ exclude=”1538,1535,1541″ ]
Hope that helps.
