Gallery issues after exporting/importing my blog

Hi there! I recently made a copy of my https://squelfland.com/ site. I am currently self-hosting that copy. Basically, I’m going to make a lot of changes to my wordpress.com site, delete a lot of content, so I saved a local server version of that content. Of course a few things stopped working, which I expected, since that version can’t use Jetpack, for example.

The one issue I haven’t been able to resolve is why my galleries no longer expand the image when clicked. None of those galleries have lightbox enabled, but on my wordpress.com site, this wasn’t necessary. It just works. So my first question is, could someone help me identify what exactly is causing this not to work since the import?

I understand getting it to work would be a wordpress.org forum question rather than here, since that is how I am running the self-hosted copy. But for what it’s worth, I did try a lightbox plugin on that copy. Unfortunately the plugin affects all my galleries, and there are some which are supposed to be links to pages, such as the ones in https://squelfland.com/portfolio/. This works fine in my wordpress.com version. I am unsure how to replicate this ideal situation if I am self-hosting.

Apologies, my blog can actually be viewed here right now, it’s private since I am editing a lot: https://squelfland.com/?share=63f0a9daefa0cbd9faf7ae73394f74e9d8f16bcdc713f7dee7d1c9b1a471e9c5

    Hi there! 👋🏼

Have you considered working on a staging site instead of self-hosting it for testing?

💡 You can read more about it here:

    WP
    Create a Staging Site

Use a staging site to clone your entire WordPress.com site for testing purposes. This guide will show you how to create a staging website on WordPress.com. This feature is available on sites with the WordPress.com Business or Commerce plan. How to Create a Staging Site A staging site is a great place to test plugin and theme updates or any other changes you plan to make to your liv

It basically creates a 1:1 clone of your live (production) site, and after you complete the changes on the staging site, you can push it back to the production 😊

[…] So my first question is, could someone help me identify what exactly is causing this not to work since the import?

We can’t provide help for self-hosted sites. My suggestion is to create a staging site and make changes there — there shouldn’t be any issues like the one you described 😊

Give it a try, and let us know if this helped!

    P.S. It’s free to create a staging site ✔️
