Gallery links go to media carousel regardless of settings.

  Despite the ability to select attachment page / media / none – for directing galleries when clicked – all my galleries default to the carousel display. I think this did work correctly in the past.

  An extension of the same subject: how to make galleries link to a URL – I mean there is a window (when editing a gallery from a page, and selecting “link”) which allows inputting an internal or external (URL) link – but although it seems to be accepted, it does not have any effect in reality.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  By the way, the choice of: carousel, attachment page, media
  is possible when the gallery is created within a widget (in the side bar in my case) – I have several of those working very well in all modes.
  I need this functionality to work again on my pages – Thanks.

  I tested with the following steps and the gallery links worked as expected:

  1. Start at https://wordpress.com/page and select a site if prompted
  2. Add a title
  3. Click the Add Media button
  4. Select several mages from the Media Library
  5. Click the Continue button
  6. Find “Link To” and select “Media File”
  7. Click the Insert button
  8. Publish the post
  9. View the published post and click on the images in the gallery

  Result: the images opened the media files when clicked as expected.
