Gallery not as post/page

Hi there,
I could not find the right answer on the help section nor in forums. I would like to create a photo gallery not appearing as a post or page, but as a widget on the left on my blog cattitudeblog.worpress.com, together with other widgets on the list, such as “ARCHIVE”, “RECENT POSTS”, etc.
I would like to have a gallery icon in the widget list always appearing on the homepage of the blog and linking to all my pictures, that could thus be easily updated with new ones with time.Another question: I would like to add a widget named LINKS, with a list of websites and other blogs (some of them not using WordPress) that I suggest to my followers. I was not able to to that either, I am sorry! I am new here and I still have to learn! ;) Can you help me?

To display an image gallery in the sidebar in a text widget start by creating the gallery in a draft post, then switch the editor to The Text (HTML) editor in the draft post and copy the gallery shortcode into a text widget.

You can create a blogroll of related sites that you recommend to your readers and enter the links into it in your dashboard Links section and display them in a Links widget.
