Gallery not clickable

    I use the rich gallery function so images are clickable beyond the thumbnail. On my latest post all the html is the same as previous posts, but the images in the gallery remain non-clickable. I’ve re-created the gallery, tried different settings, to no avail. The older posts function just fine, but the latest I just can’t get to work. I’ve tested on Safari and Chrome om my Mac, as well as my iphone. Same result. What is going on?

    On the older posts the litte hover hand shows up as it should, and on the latest post the hover hand is missing for the entire gallery. Very strange. I even tried clearing cache, history, restart, refreshing the page, turning wifi on and off. Nothing fixes it???? Why is there a problem on this one post?

    Hi @ zz22aa, when you insert a gallery in the post, can you be sure to check the options on the right? Ensure that “Linked To” is set to “Attachment Page” — then it should work as you had it before.

    Thanks for the suggestion – but that doesn’t fix the problem. Still not clickable.

    AFAIK, it used to be that you didn’t need to change anything in the “Linked To” option in the Gallery. The Image Carousel was the default behavior for all Gallery images unless you turned it off in the WP Admin>Settings> Media Settings.


    @zz22aa     did you use the Block Editor interface or the Classic Editor interface to insert your Gallery in that post?

    The linked to is set to None by default in all the previous posts. There the hover/click works fine. I use the block editor for posting and inserting galleries. I just can’t see what is different from last weeks post and all the previous ones. I even checked the html for the galleries:

    I am experiencing the very same problem (i.e. images no longer clickable). I also noticed that when inserting images into the block there is a white space to the left, which was not there before and is not there in older posts (which work fine). Something definitely has changed with this block in general and now it is broken.

    We will need to try and replicate the experienced behavior y’all are having. Can you please share the following:

    – exact replication steps in the WordPress.com dashboard
    – Links to the images in question
    – Browser type and version number
    – Operating system type and version number
    – If you’re using the app, then include that version number too

    Here is how I create post. Click the plus on the left side, choose text, next block + choose gallery. Upload images. Then done. Previously this has worked without a problem.

    After the last system update there was another one, thinking it might have something to do with the problems, I just updated to
    Browser Safari 13.0.1
    MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6 same number
    Gallery still not working

    When pasting code in the forum, please make sure to click the code button before and after, else the code will render instead of just display. But we can view your editor, so there’s no need to post the entire post’s HTML here.

    That said, it looks like this is a known issue introduced by the most recent update of the block editor over on WordPress.org. Our team is already working on a fix on our end to compensate for the changes to the editor. We’ll let you know once that fix is live.

    The carousel issue has been fixed. I’ve checked your post at https://gronhogen.home.blog/2019/09/27/flitiga-hantverkare/ and the carousel is opening for me now if I click an image, but let us know if you still see any issues.

    Since I had the same problem I checked as well (e.g. here at https://pegasusrun3305.travel.blog/2019/09/30/day-2/. The gallery is indeed working again, i.e. the images are clickable. However, there is still this additional whitespace to the left which has not been there before and shows the thumbnails off center. It doesn’t break the site, but doesn’t look nice.
