gallery slideshow widget into square?

Is there any way to change the gallery slideshow widget into a square?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Or, is there at least a way to get the white sidebar border to fit it properly? Too much padding on the bottom and top….

Hi, check out the Gallery Widget Support Page. You can choose the style you wish to show the images in, and one of those is Square.

I played with all those features, and have pulled it down for now— what I really wanted was a square shaped slideshow/slider. It was a rectangle, and also, it had too much white on the top and bottom, and I wanted to make the white even all the way around, and the same as the borders on the rest of the widgets. Essentially, I wanted to turn the image I have on the top of the sidebar into a slideshow :)

You can add Slideshow Shortcode into a text widget and set the type to square. You might play around with that and see if that gets you what you are looking for. You will have to include the IDs of each image you wish to use.

The link you put in doesn’t connect to the page, so I googled it and found a wonderful list of shortcodes, including one to Vimeo :)
However, I put in a text widget. I put in : [slideshow] and got a show much like the one I had in before. I added “square” in the text, it reshaped the widget to square and also put the word square in the widget. It also started scrolling through my media collection, I think.
I guess I don’t really understand how to format the code :)

I also want to be able to fit the images into the border nicely, like the image I have sitting at the top of the side bar now.

I’m sorry, here is the link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#gallery-shortcode
Putting the slideshow into the sidebar in a text widget should work, but looking again, it might be that they will end up rectangular and not square since for “type” you have to specify slideshow.
