Gallery Thumbnails

  Hello,

  I inserted a gallery into one of my posts. It’s a square gallery type and it’s showing up fine but the thumbnails are too big and they aren’t shrinking down the original photo rather cropping them in. Regardless, thumbnails are way too big.

  I followed the Gallery support docs to a T and went for the gallery square type but i don’t know how to adjust those square thumbnails. Help me!

  I have no idea why the link is not working but it is my site, http://www.crouchandfitzgerald.wordpress.com. Under The Innovations –> George Crouch Patents –> click on first image “Trunk”. In there you will the two images that are HUGE thumbnails. When i choose the default gallery, thumbnail grid, they look fine and i can adjust their sizes and you see the entire image. However, when i want this seamless looking gallery type, square, it’s huge and it doesn’t shrink the image down but crops it.

  The Square gallery will take the available images and crop them to be square if they’re not already square. Also, their size is determined by the total width of your post page. Since you’re post page is pretty wide and is not using a sidebar, the square format is larger. I created a test page and used three images in the same square gallery format, and here’s a screenshot of what that looks like:

  As you can see, the square images are smaller because there are more of them on the page. If you want smaller images, the thumbnail gallery is a great choice as you’re not limited to the number of images you need to use to get the look you want.
