Gallery Tiles Stretched

Since moving to the new Blocks system, my tiled galleries feature stretched tiles which look terrible. I’ve searched for this issue and encountered several reports of it with no working solution. They look fine in the editor, but stretch vertically when I publish. How do I fix this issue?

The only fix I have found is to keep resizing and resaving the base images until they work. That’s not a fix, that’s a work-around, and a tiresome one!

I have been trying to recreate your issue, but I can’t repeat it. Even when I use your own images. What kind of theme are you using?

I use Cubic across most of my sites. Would that be the issue? I never had a problem using the classic editor. I can send screenshots if you like. Circular tiles come out as stretched semi-circles. I’ve tried in both chrome and Firefox on a Mac.

@robonobo: This is a known issue with the Cubic theme.
The problem here is that Cubic predates the block editor by a few years, so it doesn’t support styling for some of the newer features that have been added thanks to the block editor.
The problem has already been reported to our developers, but I can’t give you a timeline on when this might be fixed, or even guarantee that it will be fixed.
A workaround would be to use the Classic Block, click the camera icon to add images, then in the next screen, click the “gallery” left hand link, choose your photos, then in the gallery settings, make sure you choose “square tiles” to have the gallery work like you want.
