Does anyone know how to disable comments on the Gallery Widget?

We can’t comment on the Gallery Widget.
Do you mean Gallery Page? If so, you will have disable comments for each individual image in the gallery.
Go to Dashboard > Media > Library > Click on the image for which you wish to disable the comments > Click on the ” Edit more details ” > Scroll down to find Discussion module ( if this is missing, enable it from Screen Options) > Un-select Allow comments.
Repeat this process for each image in the gallery.

I have many images in my gallery and I want to enable only 4 or 5 in the gallery widget at the front page. Is that possible ?

The content of a gallery widget is unrelated to a gallery in a page or post, though you may use some or all of the same images in both. You may upload images from HD files or from the media library to the gallery widget. See the gallery widget support page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gallery-widget/.

@leadingedgeaviation whether you can comment on images in the Gallery widget is entirely dependent on whether you allow comments on your site. See here for a full explanation: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/pictures-gallery?replies=3#post-2266146 Everything but the CSS references are relevant for you.
@paparere-to display only a few images in the Gallery widget you can select the images in the Dashboard>Appearance>Widgets>Gallery widget> select images. From there you can upload or select images already uploaded to your Media Library. Like the Gallery feature itself, you can link to the Photo Carousel, the image attachment page or the media file directly.
