Gallery Widget Sidebar Showing too many Images

This question is regarding the Gallery Widget listed here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/gallery-widget/

I don’t see any option to limit the number of images on the sidebar. I only want a few images to show there, but if a user clicks on the image, I want them to be able to access the full carousel. The “visibility” option only seems to apply to widgets that show pages as opposed to media.

Meaning, I’ve got about 200+ images from users and counting, but the last thing I want to do is have them all show up on the sidebar and cause massive loading times. I want 2 or 3 images up front, then the full carousel only if the user chooses to click.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Kris, When a user clicks on an image in the sidebar gallery widget, he will only see the images that you’ve installed in that widget. This doesn’t suit your needs as I understand them, so I suggest that you add an image widget that contains only the images you want. You can configure that image widget to link to a carousel you’ve created on a separate page. The page doesn’t have to be accessible anywhere else on the site, if you’d prefer to limit its viewing to those who click the image widget link. Let me know if this suits you, and if I can help further. Thanks much!

Thanks so much. I didn’t realize you could put a gallery on a separate page, I’ll do that!

I’m so glad that solution will work for you. Let me know if you need further assistance. All the best :)
