Gallery's full screen view stopped working on Chrome browser

    This issue is observed in both standard gallery and tiled gallery. It used to be working fine (at least for standard gallery), not sure when it got broken.

    It is still functioning properly for Safari (Mac OS and iOS) and Firefox (Mac OS):
    1. Whenever clicking/tapping on an image that’s part of gallery, full screen gallery view will be displayed.
    2. By default, the full screen view will display the selected image.
    3. In the full screen view, I’m able to navigate from one image to another. Clicking the cross mark button will close the full screen view.

    The behaviour I’m getting in Chrome (Mac OS and Android):
    (2) By default, the full screen view will display the first image rather than the selected image.
    (3) In the full screen view, image navigation does not work, it got stuck with first image. Even clicking the cross mark button gives no response, the full screen view will not be closed.

    I also tried updating Chrome browser on my Macbook and Android phone to the latest version (92.0.4515.159), but problem persists. Restarting browser and rebooting device did not help.

    Hi there,

    Hmmm, I am unable to replicate the issue you are seeing (Using Chrome version Version 92.0.4515.131 on MacOS, Big Sur 11.2):

    Did this just begin happening for you, or has this been an issue since you began using the gallery?

    Also, what Mac OS and Chrome, and Android versions are you currently on?

    staff-doublebassd Thanks for helping out. My environments are per below:

    MacBook Pro 15″ mid 2015
    – Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6
    – Chrome 92.0.4515.159

    Sony Xperia XZ-1 Compact
    – Android 9
    – Chrome 92.0.4515.131

    Did this just begin happening for you, or has this been an issue since you began using the gallery?

    I just started to use Tile Gallery, not sure if it was working before. However, this is also happening to standard Gallery in my older posts and I’m sure they used to be working fine in the past.

    Surprisingly, I just tested this issue in another environment that runs Chrome 92.0.4515.159 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, it’s working properly!

    Problem solved!

    The issue goes away after clearing all cache files that Chrome stored for wordpress.com, now it is good.

    Not sure what kind of cache file is causing this mess though.
