Gap between header and post and small titles in Academica theme – any help?

    Hi,
    I recently switched to the Academica theme and there are 2 things that I am not able to fix,
    First, in the homepage there is quite a huge gap remaining between the header and the post (text below). Am I doing something wrong and is this possible to adjust?
    Second, again on the home page, the titles of the posts are written with quite small fonts and that makes them not so visible. is there some (free) way to change that and make them like on the other pages?
