Gap between header/footer and main body (caused by theme)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey there,

I’m having trouble removing the large blank spaces between the headers/footers and the main body on my website. These cannot be changed through elementor and my theme does not have a header/footer editing option when customising appearance through wordpress.

Do you know css that could help me fix this?

    Website: https://contermedia.com

    Thanks,

    W

    Hi,
As your website is not still launched only staff can take a look. Can we know which theme you are using :)

Moreover, have you tried “footer widget” to edit your footer? You will find footer from your_site->Appearance->Customize->Widgets->Footer
Please find more details here https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/#how-to-add-widgets

For the header customization you can “Hide the Site Header”, “Hide Homepage Title” from, your_site->Appearance->Customize->Homepage Settings.

Yes, you can use css also to remove blank space. In that case you can launch your site so that we can take a look to suggest you css or any option featured by the theme. :)

    Thanks

Elementor is a 3rd party “page builder’ style editor that completely replaces the default page editor we are trained on. Because of this it’s difficult for us to take a look and troubleshoot since we’re not familiar with that tool.

I have taken a look at your site (which only Staff can do while it is set to coming soon) and I see you are using the Twenty Twentyone theme for WordPress, which as I understand it was not designed for use with Elementor, and I suspect this is causing some of the spacing issues you are seeing. I’m pretty sure that the makers of Elementor state that it can work with “any theme” and that general statement may be true, but on a case-by-case basis it’s likely that some themes do create issues.

That said, I could not see a clean way to deal with the spacing via CSS; the Elementor markup is nested within the theme in such a way that finding that extra spacing is very difficult for some reason. Because of this (and our lack of familiarity with Elementor) we recommend reaching out to Elementor staff as a first step, so they can take a closer look: https://elementor.com/support/

Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

  • Hi again,

I forgot to mention that this is the support forum for our free sites, but your Business Yearly Plan upgrade includes priority live chat support that you can access 24 hours a day (except major holidays)

With this in mind you are encouraged to reach out to us here, and we can take a closer look at your issue in realtime. No need to wait for a reply in the forums: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

Live chat is only monitored by staff (since it’s non-public) and this allows us to see your site even when it is in coming soon mode, which is not always possible here in the forums.

    Thanks for rocking WordPress.com! :)
