Gap between text body and sidebar

  • Unknown's avatar

    There seems to be a gap between my site’s text body and the sidebar on the right. It can only be seen when the background color is a different color than white. Is there a way for me to close that gap making the two parts come together?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I will flag this thread so it gets moved to the CSS Forum for you. There either Staff or Volunteer who helps with CSS will assist you. Please be patient while you wait. :)

    No one responded on this issue, neither here nor from WordPress Tech. Is there anyone out these who could direct me towards someone else?

    Staff are backlogged with support requests and only a couple of Volunteers (usually just one) who help with CSS editing when they have the time to. You can either wit for a Volunteer to answer you or you can wit until Staff reactivate the support link and contact them at this link. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    There are a number of things out of whack it seems. First off the main content area (col-full) is 940px wide, but your header image is 930px. The following correct the width of the content area to match the header and then adjusts the width of the main post area so there is no gap. Lastly I added a white background to #content so that it goes all the way to the bottom of the page instead of stopping at the bottom of however many posts you have (this also will keep any gaps from showing if you shift things around.

    .col-full {
    width: 930px;
    }

    #main {
    width: 628px;
    }

    #content {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFFF;
    }

    By declaring a color in #content, you can actually remove the white color declarations in .post and #sidebar since it is now being handled in their parent element.
