Garbled characters
-
Hi all,
I was originally using Emphires as my website theme and later switched to Salient. When I was using Emphires, I used their testimonial plugin, but after switching, all the testimonials disappeared.
Before switching to Salient, I made a backup. To retrieve the testimonial data, I restored the backup, but all the Chinese characters turned into question marks. I couldn’t find a solution, so I recovered back to Salient, but the Chinese characters are still showing as question marks.

As I have switched back to Salient, all the testimonials disappeared again. My goal is still retrieve testimonial data, but now I need to fix the garbled characters first.
Been trying to reach WordPress.com support via live chat for 2 days with no response.
The website I need help is: http://www.nestlabour.com.au.
Many thanks,

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I’ve been waiting for WordPress support for 4 days without any response. I searched the forums and found a similar issue https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/widgets-encoding/?replies=6, but there was no solution provided, and it seems like the problem just disappeared…

Hi @infod2c0f530be8! I responded to your email but will share some details here as well. It sounds like the content from the testimonials was coming from a now deactivated plugin – Stars Testimonials Pro. For content added via a plugin to display correctly, the plugin would need to be active.
I hope that helps!

I think
To display that content correctly, you’ll need to reactivate the plugin or migrate the content elsewhere.
