Garland Theme header colours displaying incorrectly

  • Unknown's avatar

    This is my blog:
    http://elmridgepta.wordpress.com/

    It uses the Garland theme, with custom colours saved. Until about an hour ago, this was working fine. the header colours (via the “Colour Customizer” are/were set to Header Top = a very dark green, and Header Bottom = a very pale yellow.
    This displays correctly in the preview and until about an hour ago, was displaying correctly on allt eh pages. hte pages between it displaying correctly (earlier this afternoon) and being wrong (in the last hour).

    BUT when i just looked at the blog (in both firefox and IE), the header colours aren’t being used – instead, the very pale background colour is being used throughout the header area. This means that my menu options along the top are barely visible as the text is a (non-customizable) white.

    The colour customizer still shows the correct colours, as does the preview…but on the blog, these header colours are just not being used.

    Has something chnaged with this Garland theme to make it not work? I haven’t (knowingly) made any changes to

    thanks

    I know how the blog normally displays and it isn’t displaying that way now. I’m using Firefox 3.6. and can verify what you are saying about the color changes.This is an issue you need to take directly to Staff as only they have backend access to blogs. Perhaps they have been making some backend changes or something. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    Thankyou for confirming what I suspected. I have filed a report on the contact page you suggested. Fingers crossed that this can be resolved soon – i’ve just (this afternoon) sent out a newsletter to 200 people telling them about the lovely new look of the blog and to come and check it out. I’m dreading the number of emails i’ll get saying “I can’t see the menu options at the top” :(
    Talk about bad timing!

    Thanks for your help!

    I am having the same problem with the Garland theme.

    Trying to re-install the theme, I learned it is no longer available in the list of themes…

    @sandersxs4all
    We can’t help you without a link to the blog. Will you please post it now?
    Also note that if the theme is already “activated” on your blog it will not appear in the browsed themes. Also installing a re-installing it is not likely to make any difference at all.

    As I said above, this is an issue you need to take directly to Staff as only they have backend access to blogs. Perhaps they have been making some backend changes or something. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    @timethief

    Thanks for your reply. My blog is sandersxs4all.wordpress.com.

    I hadn’t realised that an activated theme would not show up and I think I won’t go through the hassle of changing it to another theme before going back.

    On your advice to kajoblog I have already send a message to Support. I will wait for their reply.

    Regards,
    Sanders

    i’ve just tried ( on a separate blog) changing to a different theme, and then selecting Garland again and reactivating it .

    If i stick with the default colours (or do “Reset to default colours” in the colour selection page), it does seem to display the header with those selected colours. But once I try to change those to my own selectede Header Top and Header Bottom colours, the just goes back to the very pale background colour and ignores hte header colour settings.

    So, it does seem to b a problem with the theme, rather than with my blog (now that i’ve tried it on a different blog). And now tried on 3 different PCs and 2 different web browsers.

    Any idea how long support usually take to respond? I don’t really want to leave the blog in this ‘not quite right’ state for too long, might be better to find a different theme and use that instead?

    I’m sorry but we Volunteers do not know what the Staff workload is, what their priorities are, and when they will get to your ticket.

    Same problem on the two blogs I use Garland on. I’ve sent a message to support as well.

  • @kajoblog & @sandersxs4all
    We’re aware of the issue with custom header colors in the Garland theme and are looking into it. Thanks for the patience.

  • We’ve fixed the issue and the Garland theme should be appearing correctly now.

    I can confirm that it’s working correctly again now – thanks guys, and thanks for the email updates and updates here.

    I too confirmed it is fixed. And that I am impressed that it was done so quickly.

    Thanks.
