Garland theme: issues in setting it up

Hi, I have few problems in setting up Garland theme:

    1. I have no idea why I have on the right side bar widgets that I have never set up (search, blogroll, archive and misc)

Looked everywhere where I can possible have them… css … set up … could not find

    2. When I activated theme my second part of the background gone black colour

And after I have changed fonts to Russian language my header (nice blue colour ) is gone completely. And fonts also changed colour?!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    1. If at appearance > widgets, the right sidebar shows no widgets in it, then what you are seeing is a sample set created by the theme itself so that the right sidebar isn’t just a gaping hole at the side of your site. Simply put in the widgets that you actually want in the right sidebar and the sample set will disappear.

Did you by chance have custom CSS done on your previous theme? If so, and if you did not delete it from appearance > custom design > CSS, then that CSS is being applied to the new theme, and CSS is theme specific. If that is the case, remove all the CSS from that window, make sure “add to existing…” is selected and then click save stylesheet to return to the original CSS. Then you can customize using the Garland CSS.

Actually no wait. You have pasted the entire stylesheet into the CSS window and that breaks all the relative URLs in the CSS since your CSS is saved in an entirely different place. That means your site blows up.

Delete everything from the CSS edit window, make sure “add to existing…” is selected and save.

Then put only the specific selectors, and only the specific declarations you are adding or changing into the CSS window and you won’t have this issue.

Thank you so much… I spent HOURS trying to solve it… as usual solution was so simple.
