Hi there,
Some WordPress.com Business sites are showing a “502 Bad Gateway” error (or another similar error) when trying to access them. We are investigating the cause of the issue and are working to fix it as soon as possible.

I know it’s hard, but please be patient and try not to keep hitting that refresh button. :) Staff are working to fix the issue and will update this thread when they can. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks @justjennifer.
We’re starting to see some sites come back online now, but they may not be editable by their owners just yet. I’ll update here once we know more.

Thank you for the update @amylaneio
Indeed, in my case, the site is loading but I can’t upload images to the Media Library for example, I get Missing a temporary folder error.
Thanks again.

Update
Earlier, we experienced an outage of one of our servers that caused some sites to go down and show a **502 Bad Gateway** error.
We’ve resolved the issue that was causing this, so your site should be back online and accessible to you now.
If you’re still having problems seeing your site, try clearing your browser cache, to make sure your browser is loading the latest version of your site.
If that still doesn’t help, or if you have any other questions, please let us know.
Users with Business plans can contact us via email here:
https://wordpress.com/help/contact
Staff are monitoring the email queue for emails related to this issue, so we will reply as soon as possible.

I am getting the 500 internal server error message. I cannot log in to business website. On the plug in page, there was a popup that said back up your website. I click on it and my website went down.
Please help!!!

Hi @bahamianologist,
I checked your site, and it turned out that the backup plugin you installed on your site was causing the problem. I’ve deactivated it, and your site is showing for me now.
As a heads up, as a Business plan user, we already backup your site using VaultPress, so you don’t need to install a separate plugin for that. If you ever need to restore your site from a backup, you can go to:
https://dashboard.vaultpress.com/
If you have any more questions, for the fastest response this week, while we’re on our company meetup, the best way to get in touch is to go to:
