Gateway home page template: how to move default centred text to left

  The Gateway theme’s HOME PAGE TEMPLATE places all text and images by default in the centre. Is there some CSS I can use to shift all text and images to the left?

  I cannot replicate the centered text as default on a test site. Please go back and edit the page and verify that you have not centered the content in the visual editor. You can read more about the visual editor options here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/

  The home/hero page template inthe Gateway theme centres the text by default. Nothing I can do with the text editor can change it. I have tried putting text on a variety of test homepages. Nothing I have tried with CSS code can change the centring. Please pass on to modlook.

  Hi there,

  As you mentioned, the text is centered on that page because it’s how the Home Page template is designed for the Gateway theme. If you’re interested in using CSS to customize the theme, we have tips for getting started with CSS here:

  • How to Find Your Theme’s CSS

  I used the tips from that last guide to find the CSS the Gateway theme uses to center the text on that Home Page template:

  .home-content {
      text-align: center;
  }

  You can change that text-align value and add it to your site’s custom CSS to change that. If you need further help with your site’s CSS, there are expert staff and volunteers in the CSS Customization forum who can provide more help. :)

  Thank you, rachelmcr, changed “center” to “left”, looks great now.
  This was an important change because the Gateway theme only allows a change of header image on two templates, the Hero/home page and Blog site page, as far as I can ascertain, so normal left alignment of text on the Hero/Home page is essential for long form with feature image in header when multiple home template use is wanted.
