Gateway theme: cannot make header bigger

  I chose the Gateway theme because in their demo the header section seemed big, and was marked as “flexible header”: https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/

  However, when customizing it I cannot put a picture with a height superior to 640 pixels. Only a small slice of the picture shows.

  Any way to make the header taller, as in the demo?

  Hi there – you’ll need to assign the Home Page template to your front page to start getting your site looking more like the demo. It’s that specific template that displays a taller header image.

  You’ll find full Gateway setup steps in the showcase:

  Hi, I tried that, but it does not really work.
  The point is that I do not want to add a logo or a text manually (which would make the space bigger), but just use the banner I have…

  Would it be possible to add extra space there with some css command?

  OK, I found a trick:
  I just added a series of 7-8 </br> html tags in theme options > homepage template > Hero Content.

  Just wanted to let folks know that the correct syntax for a line break is <br> (not </br>)

  You can certainly add line breaks to add extra horizontal space to the hero area in Gateway, and if you have the custom CSS upgrade, an even better method is to use some CSS code, as I’ve explained here:
