gateway theme full text post on homepage

I have enabled the Gateway theme on my WordPress account and it will only show excerpts of my most recent posts on the homepage. I have changed it to ‘full text’ in the reading settings but it refuses to show each post in full.

Posts and Pages are not same so be clear on that https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Gateway has a full width template for Pages, not for Posts
https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/Switch themes to an older themes if you want a full post display on the front page but note that a full post on the front page display means that page loading time will be slower if you make that choice. https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes
