Gateway Theme — Header
-
When placing a header on my site, I followed the instructions. The header is a jpeg at 2000×500 pixels and 200dpi. When asked to crop, I crop to include the entire image. However, when I preview the image on the site it only shows the left side of the image and not the full image. (This only happens when I preview it for the computer, not for mobile. It seems to be find with mobile devices.)
I’ve tried multiple times to fix it, with multiple different dpi, but nothing I do seems to work. I got it once to fit the entire image but the resolution was terrible (I think it was 100dpi).
How do I get to show the entire image and not just part of it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having the exact same issue. I thought I had fixed it initially by going to Theme Options > General in the customizer and choosing scroll instead of fixed, but what I found is that “fixed” gives me just the top left portion of my header image and “scroll” gives me just the top. I would love to know how to fix this!

This is only for those who are actually referring to a WordPress.COM hosted blog using the Gateway theme: https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway
If you are referring to the WordPress.ORG Gateway theme version downloaded from https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/themes/download/gateway.zip for use on a WordPress.ORG software install then you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG and need support for that site in the future and if you do not have a WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -

Hi there,
This is the way that Gateway was designed. As a responsive theme (a theme that resizes based on the browser width) the header image will resize (or be cropped) depending on window size.
You’ll also see this happening if you resize the width of your browser on the theme demo here:
https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/It is recommended that you upload a background image that looks fine being cropped. If you would like to use a logo you will be able to upload one by going to Customize > Site Title, Tagline, Logo
A logo will always be centred on the header. (again, refer to the demo).
If you have any other questions let us know.
