Gateway Theme – Header Distortion?
-
I’ve been playing with the Gateway theme tonight and have it mostly doing what I want, except for a change that happens at a certain screen size.
On a large monitor, my header image sits flush with the top of my nav bar, filling the vertical space. As I decrease the browser window’s horizontal space, the image seems to shrink down dramatically, leaving a huge blank space around my site title. At this point, the design becomes scrollable and my header barely visible because it’s been downsized considerably.
If I keep decreasing the horizontal window space, the header image snaps back into place, no longer scrolls, and looks about right again.
Is there a way to prevent this change in scale? The large blank space is a shame because otherwise I would definitely use this template.
Thanks for any help,

Hi Ryan, we’re looking at ways to adjust the Gateweay header so it’s more flexible on different screen sizes. We’ll keep you posted better.

Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for your response. I found that my issue was mostly down to the scroll/static function, which having set is much easier to manage now.
If I might pose a follow up question, I notice that my header changes size from the Home page to the About page–is that something that I’m doing wrong? Or is that part of the Gateway theme?
Thanks for your response,

Yes, Gateway’s homepage featured image header height is designed to be taller than the custom header on other pages.
I see that you’ve tried to make the height taller on other pages so it looks more like the featured image on the homepage. On my screen, some of the text you added via CSS is cut off . If you’d help tweaking those CSS adjustments — and making sure they stay responsive — please feel free to post in the CSS Customization forum.
