Gateway Theme – Hero Title & Hero Content

  • Unknown's avatar

I was using a now retired theme and have just switched over to this theme. I’m trying to make the necessary updates and customizations so my site looks the way I want. I’d like to take advantage of the Hero Title and Hero Content features this theme offers; however, it doesn’t seem to be working.

I have a home page. It’s set as static and assigned as the home page in the Homepage Settings. I’ve added my header image in the customizing section. I’ve added my Hero Title and Hero Content in the Homepage Template under Theme Options. Nothing is displaying.

    What am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

I’ve added my Hero Title and Hero Content in the Homepage Template under Theme Options.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t be displayed over the header image. Did you save them by clicking the Save Changes button? I’ve called for staff attention, so staff will respond here.

Also, if you have the Premium plan or higher, then you have access to Live Chat Support, which you might find more convenient and expeditious than using the community support forums.

I did click Save. Since this was theme specific, I thought we should seek help here. With my prior theme I was able to contact the people who created the theme directly. Maybe they’ve changed how this system works? I’ll communicate with live chat support. Thanks.

Oh it looks like my prior theme was a premium theme and this one is not so no direct support group for it.

  • Hi @bursurke

The Gateway theme is one of our older themes, and was launched before we had a “block editor” and in this case, there is a setting you need to access in the “classic editor” since it is not available in the newer editor.

Specifically you are looking for this “page template” option shown in the classic editor:

To access this you will want to activate the Classic Editor plugin on your site: You can do it at this link: https://growingemotions.com/wp-admin/plugins.php?plugin_status=inactive

Once it’s active, return to your page list and edit your homepage (it will open in the classic editor now) and on the right side, look for the Page Attributes box and select the “Home” page template as shown in my screenshot.

Once you have done that you can save your changes on the homepage, then deactivate the classic editor plugin (you won’t need it after this step) and you will see that when you visit your site frontend the homepage now shows the extra info you added in the theme settings.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Hi again,

I wanted to also underscore what @musicdoc1 correctly pointed out; your Business Yearly Plan upgrade includes priority live chat support that you can access 24 hours a day (except major holidays)

With this in mind you are encouraged to reach out to us here, and we can take a closer look at your issue in realtime. No need to wait for a reply in the forums: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Thanks for rocking WordPress.com! :)

    @bursurke,

Since this was theme specific, I thought we should seek help here.

You’re always welcome here. We’re just letting you know about the live chat option.

my prior theme was a premium theme and this one is not so no direct support group for it.

Premium themes do have their own support forums, but live chat support may be used for any issue that is appropriate here. Its limitations are summarized here.
