  • I’m not seeing Gateway on your site linked above – are you running it on another site or have you not switched over yet?

Could you go into your Media Library and provide me with a link to the image you’re trying to set as your custom header?

Every time I am in preview mode and decide to “switch over” and publish the new Gateway theme, It looks nothing like the demo so I switch back to Nucleare. I will get the link from media library, thanks!

  • I see! There are indeed some setup steps you need to take after activating Gateway, which is why it doesn’t initially look like the demo. Hopefully we can help you get going with it!

Thanks so much for your help! I really love the layout of Gateway and think it would fit my brand well.

  • Thanks for the link! I can see right away that the image is too small for Gateway, at only 960 by 259px. :) See how large the header is on the demo? https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/

The recommended header size for Gateway is 2560 × 640. Let me know how it goes!

But if I try to adjust the photo, it gets distorted. Guess I will have to find a new one.

One more question, It states: If you want to feature specific Posts or Pages, give them a specific tag, then enter that tag in the Featured Content area of the Customizer. If no tag is added, the Homepage template will display your last three posts, excluding Sticky posts.

It did not automatically add my last 3 posts.

Yep – your best bet is to create or find a larger image that meets Gateway’s recommended minimum.

These instructions apply only if you’ve created a static homepage and applied the Homepage template to it. You haven’t done that yet – your site is displaying your latest posts, not a static homepage.

Have a look at the “Homepage Template” section of the setup guide to see step-by-step instructions on how to set up Gateway like the demo:

Let me know if you get stuck at any particular step.

I got a new photo that meets the requirements but it is still not going as large as I would like it to (As it is on the demo)

  • Looking good! It’ll grow taller if you add more content to that area, such as a site logo (Customizer > Site Title, Tagline, and Logo) and/or Hero title/Hero content (Customizer > Theme Options > Homepage template).
