Gateway: Video on home page template

  I’ve run into a problem trying to put a video on the home page template. The demo/how-to page for Gateway says ‘the Home Page template includes a section for a video, along with a bit of content.’
  But it’s not clear what I’m supposed to do exactly.

  I tried adding the video URL on the page designated for the home page (page title: This Writer by the Water) but it showed up above the three featured posts, instead of below them in the designated area shown on your demo. I also tried embedding a video. Same result.

  Could you direct me please. Thanks. (Love this theme)

  Hi,

  The title and content of a page assigned to the Home Page Template with the Gateway theme activated, whether it be text, a video, a call to action button, or a combination of such elements, appears on top of the featured image of the page. If no featured image is assigned, then the custom header is used as the header background.

  You just have to add a video to the page content to have it display on top of the background/featured image.

  Thanks, but my question was how do i get it to display under the three feature posts, as it shows in your demo? https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/gateway/ The lower page position looks best to me.

  If you go into the Customizer’s Theme Options panel, choose Homepage Template and you’ll see the video options:

  I failed to read the entire OP, and thus misunderstood the question. Thought you wanted to display the video overlaying the header. Sorry about that.

  Hi I am trying to achieve same look from demo using feautured tagg, but cant seem to look the same as in demo, do they need to be pages or posts, or projects? so the can appear at the Featured position in demo.

  gklondon1 – They need to be posts, as mentioned in the Customizer’s Featured Content area:

  Your theme supports up to 3 posts in its featured content area.

  gklondon1 – actually, I think this theme also supports featured pages. I will test this and verify when you post your new thread; I’m closing this one for now as it’s not related to your issue and has already been resolved.
