gave up domain name by mistake

  Hi. I believe that my client mistakenly gave up his domain name when he was cancelling his wordpress account. Is there a way to recover it? I can try and rebuy it but I think it takes awhile to become available.

  Hi there, what’s the domain name involved? It’s also likely that in order for Staff to assist with recovery, if your client was the one who purchased the WPcom upgrade plan and domain, s/he will need to post to this thread using the account that purchased it originally.

  HI, Thanks for your response.

  Here is the domain name:
  carlosloreto.com

  I’m pretty sure his is the account originally used for purchase. I am logged in with his credentials. Emails are going to his email account.

  I’ve reached out to our domain partner about carlosloreto.com. Typically it takes them 2-3 days to get back in touch with us. Once we have more news we will pass that along to you here.

  Thanks Liz,
  I had a phone conversation this morning with Wild West Domains who is the original registrar. The good news is that the domain is intact and still registered to my client.

  The technician also said that the domain is still controlled by WordPress and there wasn’t anything WWD could do on their end.

  Is there any way for WordPress to look into restoring or redirecting the domain? The client also owns carlosloreto.net. Would it be possible to redirect to that, for now, since it is up and running?

  This typically takes 2 to 3 days and nothing can be done with the domain until then,

  The nameservers are pointing away from WordPress.com which is why you are seeing carlosloreto.net. It appears that the nameservers are pointing over to Wix.
