Hi,
The tagline is not disappearing. The reason it doesn’t appear is that the tagline does not display on some themes, including Gazette.

I have a suggestion I’d like to make.
If having a tagline display is important then create a custom header image offline in a free image editor with the text for the site title and tagline on it and upload that image. Then use the theme customizer to suppress the automatic display of the site title.

While the tagline doesn’t display on the site’s front end (public side) in Gazette, it is present in the HTML and can be displayed and styled with custom CSS, for example
.site-branding .site-description { display: block; font-size: 80%; }Custom CSS is a feature included with the Premium or Business plans. Just thought I’d mention it in case that’s something you might want to consider down the road.
