Gazette theme query on featured items

Gazette displays up to six featured images at the top of the front page. Is there any way to display some of the text from the post with the image? Also, is there a way to change the background colour of featured images to match the background colour of the site? Currently featured images sit on a black background, but my site is white. Many thanks.

    Hi @hopnut,
Gazette is only designed to display the post title, post category and “leave a comment”. Getting it to display a post excerpt sounds like it would be a custom implementation.

Changing the featured section background color could be done with css, but that would require a Premium or Business plan.

There are a couple of ways to remove dark space on the free plan.

    1. You can decide on just 3 posts to feature. This will fill a line with images and the section will adjust height to leave no dark space.

    2. You can decide on 6 posts to feature. This will fill both lines with images and leave no dark space.

    3. You can create 6 posts with just a blank white image as their featured image and edit their post date to the same day you opened the blog. This will keep them off the recent posts section and will fill the rest of the dark space with white. However, this will display the title of the post, post tag, and “leave a comment” over a seemingly empty tile. It looks a little weird.

    Thanks @lastfarthing

Is there any way to remove the ‘Continue Reading’ prompt from the front page, for a post that contains just an image, and no text (nothing more to read!)?

And also, can the ‘pinned’ icons be hidden on sticky posts? They are obscuring part of the image.

    Thanks again.

If you could alter the css you could choose not to display the pinned icon and the “Continue Reading” prompt, but that would require you to purchase a Premium or Business plan:
