  Am I GDPR compliant by being on WordPress?

  Hi there,

  WordPress.com’s systems are compliant with the GDPR. However, whether or not your site is compliant depends on several factors, including the type of site you have, what type of information you gather about your visitors in addition to the information we already collect, and how you use the information collected both by us but visible to you, and collected by you.

  We cannot advise you on whether or not your specific site is compliant, as we are not your attorneys, but the post @timethief provided and the various documents that it links to provides detailed information on what data we collect about visitors to your site. We will also be providing tools that site owners can use to export and/or delete that data if requested.

  @justjennifer, that sticky was contributed to by a few people, so I’m hesitant changing the wording at this time, but we’ll revisit if we see an uptick in questions about whether WordPress.com itself is compliant.

  Thus far the majority of questions I’ve seen are still site owners asking about their own compliance, rather than about WordPress.com’s.
