GDPR

Hello WordPress team,
The GDPR has started to launch and I have checked that my blog site uncomfyquestions.wordpress.com is showing the comment privacy checkbox for people visiting my blog. However, it still states that they might save the visitor’s information. I also can see in the stats from which country the visitor read my blog and use the plugin Jetpack. I don’t use e-mail to notify the visitors of new blog posts, but I have some friends who have suscribed to my blog so that they get notified whenever I publish something new.
My question is if I still need to protect my visitors in any other way, or if you are taking care of it. I have gone through several websites that told me that if I am a user of wordpress.com, I do not have to add or edit anything. Please let me know what to do.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
However, it still states that they might save the visitor’s information.
That is correct. Capturing and storing some information about your visitors is necessary in order to provide the commenting feature on your site – it won’t work without collecting certain data. You can find detailed information on what data we collect and for which purpose here:
I also can see in the stats from which country the visitor read my blog and use the plugin Jetpack.
When someone visits your site we use their IP address to add geolocation data to the stats. Once again, that data is collected in order to provide the service, and not used for anything else. You as site owner also do not have access to that data, so no personal information about your site visitors are compromised in any way, and that data is automatically deleted after a certain time:
I have some friends who have suscribed to my blog so that they get notified whenever I publish something new.
You did not add those people to a subscription against their will. They requested it and confirmed it via email, so they gave consent to receive these emails. Every email your site sends them also includes an unsubscribe link should they wish to withdraw that consent and stop receiving emails.
My question is if I still need to protect my visitors in any other way, or if you are taking care of it.
We cannot tell you that, as we are not your attorneys. All we can do is provide you with information on the data we do collect and how that data is used, but we cannot tell you what you need to do to make your specific site compliant.
You can find links to all the relevant policies and pages we’ve published around the GDPR here:
