GDPR – How to get WordPress delete an article?
-
Hi everyone,
I realized that one article I once wrote for a student newspaper had been published on WordPress without my consent. I tried to contact the team supervising the newspaper at the time but it was already in 2013, so I am wondering if there’s anyone left in the team. How can wordpress delete the article in that case? I had specifically asked at that time that I wanted be anonymous in the article.
thanks for your help!

Hi there,
Staff can help you out in this regard.
Thanks for your patience while staff gets back to you. I’ve added Modlook for quicker responses.
Thank You. :)

Hi there, since the account you are posting from was created in 2018, it’s likely under a different WordPress.com account.
Please share the URL of the article you’re asking about. If this is sensitive information, you can ask staff to remove that link afterwards, but they’ll need that info.

Thanks @amiteshg93 @justjennifer for the help. As they both indicated, we may be able to help, but to do so we will need to know the URL to the post in question so that we can take a closer look.
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi to everyone, thanks for your prompt responses!
The article in question is here: https://journalpolemique.wordpress.com/2014/01/13/islam-politique-religion-et-pouvoir-sont-ils-incompatibles-par-oona-sola/.
I received an answer from the student team handling the newspaper, they have no access to this article since there was some turnover since 2013, and so they have lost the passwords to log in.
Thanks again and let me know if you need any additional info! -
Unfortunately, that isn’t enough information to prove ownership of the site. WordPress.com staff won’t remove content – only the account owner can.
If the team handling the newspaper still uses the same email address, they can reset the password here:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Otherwise, they would need to contact us via passwordhelp@wordpress.com and we can see if there’s anything we can do to help them regain access.
I hope that clarifies things!
