GDPR questions

    I’ve been getting emails with the ability to update my subscription to other blogs that I subscribe to. Will I be losing my followers with the GDPR on May 25th? I’ve worked hard to get them. Do I have to email something to each of them to update their profiles to remain on my list? Or is this something you take care of on your end?

    Hi there,

    You will not lose your followers.

    WordPress.com subscriptions are opt-in only. In other words, you did not add subscribers to your site. They requested to follow, and in the case of email subscribers had to additionally click on a link we emailed them to confirm they requested this.

    However, if you feel renewing their consent is important we suggest you publish a new post asking them to review their subscription, and explaining that they can unsubscribe via the link we automatically include in the email if they no longer wish to follow your site.
