GDPR – What’s mine vs. WordPress’ ?
-
Hello,
I run a very, very simple blog, just a collection of my articles. I have used the Privacy Policy on the info page as a template, but still have one question:
I’d say that the only information I store/collect, is comments, and maybe email addresses of my subscribers. Which both would be easy enough to delete upon request.
But there is also the ‘Stats’ page on my dashboard. I can see how many visitors came from which platform to my blog, and when.
It’s not an IPD as far as I can tell, and nothing I can change. It seems to me this is something Automattic collects and stores, and should include in its Privacy Policy, not me. Right? Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

However, we cannot give specific legal advice about individual sites, as we are not your attorneys.

The problem is, I can’t.
I’m not asking for legal advice about individual sites. The question is about every site that uses the free plan. Moreover, the question really is about Automattic an its data collection. Which they are now obliged to answer.Referrers, Countries and Clicks are recorded. Since I don’t store anything, they aren’t recorded by me. The question is: Do I need to include them in my Privacy Policy or do they fall under Automattics?

For complete information about our use of data, please refer to our privacy policy, recently updated to add more detail, https://automattic.com/privacy/

This is extremely unhelpful. It is a support forum, right?
I am not asking for advice on individual sites. I cannot be the only one using the free plan in Europe. You have not given me anything that I haven’t explicitly mentioned myself. The question is a general one: If I don’t record anything, do the stats from JetPack under the free plan fall under my Privacy Policy or not.

Hi there,
All the answers to your questions are in the sticky forum thread that @staartmees linked to.
We cannot tell you what should or should not be included in your site’s privacy policy. We can only tell you what information we collect about visitors to your site and what we do with it.
You can see detailed information on what data we collect to power the stats feature, should you wish to include it in your own site’s policy, here:

I realize there are legal problems with telling me what I should and shouldn’t include.
This last link is what I was looking for, at least as a jumping-off point. Thanks! However, it is not mentioned in any of the guides, blogs or policies. It might be a good idea to include it.
I think I now have enough to put something together. Thank you.
