General background input, please, Rich ?

Many of the themes stipulate specific sizes for headers that make no sense at all. One calls for 900 X 900, and when it’s imported the image has been cropped like billy-oh down the middle – and you can tell by the naked eye that such a size is ludicrous.
    Same goes for many others.
Who can I ask about this, please ? – how to find out what sizes are REALLY relevant ?

Rich ie: thesacredpath will probably have more to say on this. I will share a trick I use. I go to the live demo site and right click on the header image then I use the view image and view image info to determine the required size.
    Example re: Bloggy:
From the detailed theme description page:

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):
Custom header image width is 1920. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/bloggy/

    Using my trick:
    view image – http://bloggydemo.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/cropped-bloggy111.jpg
    view image info:
    1,920px × 469px (scaled to 1,010px × 246px)
    Answer 1,010px × 246px

That looks good ! – and had I not resettled on Bloggy I would indeed utilise it to attempt to come up with the correct measurements !

My only remaining question would be why in the name of all the gods does any theme-designer tell users to provide a header with a patently irrelevant size …?

    But that’s rhetorical. Especially now ! :-)

Your remaining question is one that I share but I’m not posting it. lol :)
