2 questions … Does word press handle the entire ‘backend’ running of a website meaning databases, servers, hosting, security, cache ?

Second what tech exactly do you ‘need’ or how do you transition when you’re website becomes as big as facebook because I’m guessing you can’t stay with word press if you get that big.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

For your first question, you are correct! WordPress handles everything behind the scenes so you can focus on creating content.

Your second question is a bit tricky because I believe choosing WordPress.com for your site depends more on the functionalities you will need. Many big companies are using WordPress.com, you can read more about them here: https://wordpress.com/activity/

    Who publishes on WordPress.com?

From TechCrunch to TED, CNN, and Spotify, WordPress.com users span a broad range.

I would recommend learning about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org from these links:
    https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
    https://learn.wordpress.org/workshop/what-is-the-difference-between-wordpress-org-and-com/

By learning the differences, you’ll also understand exactly what you are able to do here and why you might want another option like WordPress.org.

Additionally, as your needs for your site grow, you can upgrade your plan to fit your needs. You can check the available plans and their features here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
And there is also an Enterprise Solution that I don’t know much about, but you can read about it here: https://wpvip.com/

    Hope this helps!
