general question before setting up blog

    I am just trying to understand what WordPress is. Before I set up my blogs, I just want to clarify. So, is WordPress just one place to manage multiple websites that I can create? I am an artist and I have artwork which I would like to display and possibly sell artwork but also to showcase what I am currently working on. I also want to start a blog where I can just show what I am cooking or craft project ideas etc. How could I structure them? You give examples of different formats. So, trying to understand if I could put both ideas into one blog or whether I should put my art under a separate blog and everything else in another blog. I would then have to come up with two names as well, correct?

    Well, WordPress is an open-source tool which can be used to create websites. WordPress.com is a hosting provider for that.

    So to put that into perspective, with WordPress.com, in a few clicks, you can have a functioning website. You could create multiple different websites too, as there no limit to the amount of sites on the Free Plan which can be made with WordPress.com.

    There’s loads of great themes to display art on WordPress.com. These are the most common: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/art

    There are multiple ways to sell things on WordPress.com, both for the Premium and Business Plan if you’re interested.

    You can use Simple Payments, which require either the Premium or the Business Plan: https://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/

    Alternatively, if you have the Business Plan, you can install a custom plugin to sell things, with the most popular being WooCommerce. The Business Plan also has access to the Store feature: https://en.support.wordpress.com/store/

    You’d have to come up with two separate names if you chose to do two separate sites. But that being said, you could definitely put both ideas under one blog. One page could be your portfolio, another page could be a blog, and you could add whatever else you wished for. If it was one site, then you wouldn’t really need a separate name.
