  1. Where do I find whether my site is self hosted?
  2. Am I using WordPress.com?
  3. Where do I find the latest update?

  First things first – please ensure your copy of WordPress is up-to-date.
  For your security and to support our full feature set, we do require
  WordPress version 3.8 or greater. Also, just a reminder – the theme
  does not work on WordPress.com, you must have your website self-hosted.

  Your site http://fivecultureslater.org/ is hosted here at WordPress.com. This site is also linked to the domain therightthingblog.com.

  Here at WordPress.com, you don’t have to worry about updating your software. We worry about all of that for you. :)

  I am following Michael Hyatt with his “Get Noticed” site, but for that I need to have a self-hosted site or it will not work. What does that mean? What is the difference and what would I need to do to get a self hosted site? I am not sure yet that i want to go that route, because I don’t understand the differences yet. Do I pay separate fees for a self hosted site?

  With a self hosted site, you’ll be responsible for purchasing hosting from a web host, managing the installation and updating of your WordPress software, plugins, and themes.
