General settings and Google searches
-
Hello folks, quick question: If I have changed the short description of my website in the general setting page, will that then be what is displayed when my website, eventually, shows up properly on Google searches. At the moment when I see it on Google it still says, “just another WordPress site” and not the updated website message? To anyone that can answer, I’d be greatly obliged! Cheers
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s called a Tagline and you can change it here > Settings > General

Thanks Timethief for your reply. I changed the tagline about two days ago, I assume that it is not an immediate change on the Google search page. When I find my website domain on Google it reads, “delrioadventures. Just another WordPress.com site … Posted by delrioadventures. In the world of adventure, Mike Horn has become a true legend. … delrioadventures.com/ – Cached”
But it doesn’t have the tagline i created under general settings, which is “Barry Sierra. Solo adventures, expeditions and associated media production. Adventure activities in and around Cape Town as well as documentary filmmaking and production.”
Will it just take some time for Google to make the changes? Sorry for more questions and thanks again! -
Google chooses what Google wants to display and when they wish to display it. We have zero input into this at all. Moreover, a combined blog title and tagline that exceed 67 characters including spaces have a snowflake’s chance in Hades of being displayed by Google.

It’s unlikely that it’ll show up in full, and you’ve got the keywords at the very END of that description. That’s shooting yourself in the foot. You’d be far better off to edit it.
