Generally technically incompetent and struggling!

Hi, I have been trying to set up a wordpress blog for about two or three years now. I have watched many tutorial videos but made next to no progress. The main problem that I am experiencing now is that my menu options are not the same as those that appear in the tutorial videos (for example, crop picture, edit menus – I don’t have the appearance tab at all, among others). Do you know why this might be? I am using Edin Theme.

Are you sure you are following tutorials for a wordpress.com website and not for a wordpress.org website? Both systems are quite different. Did you see the tutorial of the Edin theme?
