Generating a new Google Authenticator QR Code
-
I got a new phone and need to move my google authenticator access to it. How can I generate a QR Code for Google Authenticator to scan for my account if I already have it enabled? There doesn’t seem to be a way to re-generate it.

Hi Ralph,
We currently don’t have a nice way of switching over the two-factor codes to a new device. You’ll need to disable Two-Factor Authentication using the old Google Authenticator (or one of your back-up codes):
Once you disable it, you can re-setup Two-Factor using the Google Authenticator app on your new phone.
Best,

It won’t let me disable it because it requires me to enter a code from Authenticator to do so. But I don’t have access to that device anymore, so I can’t disable two factor.

Hi Ralph,
Let’s move this over to email so we can securely get you access again.
I’ve sent you an email to the address associated with your WordPress.com account, just reply there. :)
Best,
