geotagged posts widget not available at my dashboard

  I enabled geotagging following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/geotagging/

  Then, when I go to my dashbooard, appearance -> widgets, I can’t find the geotagged posts widget. Is it not available for all themes I suppose?

  I tried changing my theme options, choosing from one sidebar, two sidebars or no sidebar, thinking that it might affect the availability of the widget but there is no difference.
  The widget is still not available, nor is it displayed in the “inactive widgets” area.

  I also had a friend enable Location Geotagging for his wordpress.com blog and follow all the steps that are given at :http://en.support.wordpress.com/geotagging/ . She doesn’t get any geotagging widget either.

  Any clues?

  why so long to enable geotagging and why so vague on the info? It’s been years now since they introduced it and yet still no widget!

  They enabled geotagging a couple of years ago, I think, and there has NEVER been a widget. It’s always “coming soon.”

  I am puzzled. in the “help” section it says there is a ‘geotagging widget’ . I have enabled geotagging, but I can’t find the widget. It doesn’t appear in the “widgets” list, nor is it in the “inactive widgets” window. This seems like a really fun widget, so I’d love to use it.
  Wordpress: if this widget isn’t there, please update your help pages?
  And please can you advise me: are all widgets there for all themes, or is the widget selection theme-specific?

  This wouldn’t be the first time that Automattic has gotten sidetracked by other shiny bits. 2 years though would qualify for something beyond “sidetracked”.
