  Naoko added a german string to GlotPress on Jan. 17th. Where did it come from? I’m asking because it’s not translated properly.

  The string (with high priority) says something completely different in the translation. Is this intended?

  I meant to copy and paste existing translation for this string but made a mistake.

  The incorrect translation is invalidated now.

  The high priority string “Start a WordPress blog or create a free website in seconds. […]” is used in the meta description of this page (for logged-out users).

  What I had copied and pasted came from a separate file (used for some languages which use the same template with English logged-out home page). Would you suggest using your translation instead? The message is shown along with Google search result.

  Hi Naoko,

  I’d say it’s a matter of taste. We translate “… in seconds” mit “blitzschnell” (fast as lightning) as a literal translation to “in Sekunden” doesn’t sound very colloquial.

  The other difference is the translation for “awesome” which I translated with “großartig” while the original translation uses “toll”. Well, “toll” is more like “great”. To kick it up a notch I chose “großartig” which is better than “toll”. After all we’re talking about awesome people. :)

  Thanks Martin. The text is hardcoded in a separate file (= not translated through GlotPress) and we decided to keep the current meta description for now.

  Again, thanks for keeping a close watch on maintaining German translation quality!
