german WordPress.com homepage – translated string

When not logged in and visiting the german WordPress.com homepage at http://de.wordpress.com, the section “home-discover” says:

Entdecke über was unsere top WordPress.com Blogger geschrieben haben

This clearly is a translation of the english original “Discover what our top WordPress.com bloggers have been writing about“. My question is, where does it come from?

I’ve translated the string in the german GlotPress but it’s different to the one on the homepage. So where does the translation on the homepage come from? Is it hardcoded? Why doesn’t it use the string in the WordPress.com GlotPress?

    Cheers

Hi, Martin. The front page of WordPress.com is actually a static page that isn’t connected to GlotPress, so the translations are hardcoded on that page, instead. I’ve just checked with our team to see about changing that string to match the translation in GlotPress. Thanks for checking on this! :)

I don’t understand why it’s a static page when the strings can be found in GlotPress?

I assumed they have been added with gettext when they are listed in translate.wordpress.com

    Hi Martin,

These strings have been added to GlotPress because there’s a version of the front page that has them added with gettext. However, the current front page is static, so it doesn’t pull from GlotPress.
