Get a mess of a page when I try to change my theme
-
The original theme I selected for my blog (Tarski) works fine but if I try to change the theme using any of the free ones on WordPress.com, my page turns into a mess, it doesn’t look at all like the preview. The menus are huge and overlapping and the posts are pushed to the side. I checked for wierd stuff in the HTML, but it all looks fine.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is this the blog you are talking about, http://theeasyplace.wordpress.com/ ?
What page are you talking about? The main blog page or the about page?

Thanks for your response. Yes, that’s my blog. It screws up both pages – the header is squished, the wigits are in huge fonts to the left or below the posts (depending on the theme – I’ve tried several). The only things that look like they should are the posts themselves. I tried putting the about page and both the posts in the trash and changing the theme and it still came out messed up.

Switch temporarily to the theme you were having problems with so that we can have a look. Post back here when you switch.

Sounds like something that happened to me on the Light theme. Try this: grap the lower right corner of the window and resize the window smaller. Does that help?

I think you’re going to need staff intervention on this one. Never seen anything like that. http://support.wordpress.com/contact

I had similar problem but I found out that I had a CSS customization applied for sandbox but later I changed I changed my theme to Andreas04 without removing CSS changes.

Then you nailed it!
mindye04, you need to go to your CSS page and remove EVERYTHING you added to the CSS and revert to saved theme.
-
Delete everything from the CSS edit window, click the “add to existing…” button and click save. That will return things to the original theme CSS.
