I left my site for a while. Now I want to start again, I can only get onto my account settings. I cannot post or edit, have no dashboard and no log in button.

I have decided I want to delete this site. If I try to log in, it tells me I don’t have any WordPress sites. I have accidentally started another one so hope that doesn’t confuse things. Please could you delete
    permanently: thestoryslot.wordpress.com

    Thank you.

The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

    http://thestoryslot.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

    https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/thestoryslot.wordpress.com

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

Thanks for such a detailed explanation.

I have spent a lot of time on this, but there still seems to be a problem in that I can either get onto edit but it tells me I don’t have any posts – or anything else for that matter – or else it just allows me to use paint and ink icons, but nothing else. It’s as though there are two sites, one the original with a lot of content, the other an empty one, on the same URL. I simply cannot remove the content via the dashboard by any of the means suggested.

This is the URL for the original site which brings up the regular, external (ie NOT the dashboard) site with content: https://thestoryslot.wordpress.com/ This content is what I need to remove as it contains my own stories before a publisher will accept them for an e-book. So quite important for me to remove the site. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience but I hope you can help. Janet C.

Further, I keep on trying, but I now when I enter my unsername a message comes up to say that I am a user and need to be invited by the administrator. This is strange because I am the only person ever to have owned and operated the site. I have managed to delete some of the details from my profile and removed my photo, but I would be very grateful if you could delete the site for me. I don’t think I am ever going to find a way to get onto it.

    Hi Janet.

The WordPress.com site you’re referring to, thestoryslot.wordpress.com, was created under a different account to the one you’re writing from. We’re not able to delete the site without permission from the account it was created under.

Do you remember creating a separate WordPress.com account to the one you’re writing from? If not, please submit all the information that you can to our Account Recovery team via the following form:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

We’ll help out based on the information that you’re able to provide there.

    Thanks!

    Hi Siobhyb,

I have done as you said – I had already tried this a number of times. The trouble is there is another live site that has nothing on it with a log-in “janettecameron”. I may have started it by accident and it’s confusing everything.

The site that is full of content is: http://thestoryslot.wordpress.com and can be found with an added phrase “just another wordpress weblog.” It has a pink Bouquet theme.

    Account Recovery
Please provide the following information so that we can try to help you recover your account. Without proper validating information, we may not be able to help you recover your account. Read more about the process here.

Please do not use this form for general support questions.

What is your registered email address or username?
(email visible only to moderators and staff)

What is the URL of the specific blog you are contacting us about?
    http://thestoryslot.wordpress.com

What email address should we contact you at?
(email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Proof of Ownership
To help recover your account, we require some information from you to verify your ownership of the account. Please note that we are unable to recover an account without proof of ownership.

Do you have a transaction ID? What’s this?

Please enter a receipt or transaction ID:

    I have never upgraded.

Do you have an activation URL or key? What’s this?

Do you have two factor authentication codes? What’s this?

    Extra Details
Do you have anything else you want to add? Please note that we cannot accept publicly published material as proof of account ownership.

I don’t have the above info as this was so long ago although I have never purchased an upgrade.

I was married at the time I started this site and I think my email address was under an account taken out with BT in my husband’s name, Philip Ian Howdle. Not sure if that is the problem.

I think I would have registered under (email visible only to moderators and staff) as I had that email for some time.I also had another email address as above but without the figure 1. Here is the info I typed on my “codes” list:

    http://janetcameron.wordpress.com/wp-login.php
    Wordpress login: janetcameron
    Story slot site: janetcameron: jupiter1

also the email address for contributors to send me stories::
(email visible only to moderators and staff): Password: [redacted]

I had other sites connected as you can see in the blogroll, although they have been taken down. There is another blog which I think I mention in the blogroll: janetcameronwriting.blogspot.com which is still live and might help to prove I am the same person.

I think I accidentally started another empty site with a sign in janettecameron and I have become confused between the two. We are one and the same. I am afraid that’s all I can tell you and hope that will be enough for you to take down the site so I can get on with my new project.
Thanks so much and sorry for the hassle.,
    Janet Cameron

Siobhyb: I don’t know if this is relevant but I think this is the access address for the main site I had, and which has now been taken down.

    Hi Janet.

I don’t see recent emails in our system from any of the addresses provided. As there’s some private information that we’ll need to discuss further, it’s better that we talk over email.

To help, I’ve directly sent out an email and CC’d both of the addresses provided in your last reply. Please reply from there.

    Cheers!
